Sarà New York a ospitare l’asta della più grande collezione di disegni, manoscritti e poesie di John Lennon. A darne l’annuncio è la casa d’aste Sotheby’s che si occuperà della vendita. Proprio in occasione dei 50 anni dalla prima apparizione dei Beatles negli Stati Uniti: era il 1964 quando parteciparono al ‘Ed Sullivan Show’, davanti a 73 milioni di telespettatori.
E ora andranno all’asta tutte le opere della collezione intitolata ‘You Might Well Ask’ e composta da una novantina di lotti, valutati complessivamente per 800.000 dollari.
Parzialmente già pubblicata tra il 1964 e il 65 da Tom Maschler, vanta comunque scritti e disegni inediti, tutti risalenti alla prima metà degli anni Sessanta, nel pieno dell’esplosione della ‘Beatlemania’.
All’incanto ci saranno i manoscritti delle poesie di Lennon che Charles Curran, un parlamentare britannico di stampo conservatore, nel 1964 citò come esempio del cattivo stato del sistema educativo inglese.
